Should Soda be Avoided?

If possible, I make recommendations to substitue rather than remove food from the diet. For example, when someone loves ice cream I teach them to make nutrient dense ice cream and recommend eating it on occasion as a treat. I can't do that for soda. There is no acceptable soda, diet or regular. My recommendation is to completely give it up as fast as possible. I can recommend beverage substitutions such as kombucha, but there is no soda I feel good about and here are the reasons why. Phosphoric acid impedes the body's ability to absorb hydrochloric acid which interfers with the body's ability to utilize calcium. Sugar increases insulin levels. Aspartame is used in diet soda and has 92 know side effects and soda is made from tap water.
